No: 368, 28 November 2017, Press Release Regarding the Participation of Foreign Minister H.E.Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in the Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Pakistan and in the Seventh Ministerial Conference of Istanbul Process

H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, will attend the Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Pakistan on 30 November 2017, and the Seventh Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process on Afghanistan. Both events will be hosted by Azerbaijan in Baku.

In the trilateral meeting between Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Pakistan, which will be organized for the first time, the possibilities for further developing the relations among three brotherly and friendly countries as well as the regional and international matters will be discussed. On the occasion of the Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is expected to be received by H.E. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Istanbul Process, which aims to reinforce regional cooperation and solidarity in order to support Afghanistan in every field, was created at the “Istanbul Conference for Afghanistan” held on 2 November 2011 spearheaded by Turkey. Turkey maintains her active role in the Istanbul Process.

14 regional countries including Turkey and other countries supporting the Process as well as the representatives of regional and international organizations will participate in the upcoming Seventh Session of the Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process to be co-chaired by Afghanistan and Azerbaijan. Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will also hold bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of other participating countries of the Process on the sidelines of the Conference.
