H.E. Mr. António Guterres, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), will pay a visit to Turkey on 9-12 March 2013.

During his visit, H.E. Mr. António Guterres will be received by H.E. Mr. Beşir Atalay, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Muammer Güler, Minister of Interior. He will also meet with H.E. Ambassador Feridun Sinirlioğlu, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Fuat Oktay, Director General of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), and Mr. Ahmet Lütfi Akar, President of the Turkish Red Crescent Society.

Within the framework of this visit, views mainly on the situation of the Syrians under temporary protection in Turkey and on the fields of cooperation between Turkey and the UNHCR will be exchanged. On this occasion, Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation between the UNHCR and AFAD as well as the Turkish Red Crescent Society will be signed.

H.E. Mr. António Guterres will also visit a protection center in Nizip, Gaziantep.
