Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu accompanied President Erdoğan who paid an official visit to Tunisia on 27 December 2017.
President Erdoğan’s visit to Tunisia constituted the first visit from Turkey to this country at the Presidential level since 2012.
President Erdoğan was welcomed by President Beji Caid Essebsi of Tunisia with an official ceremony.
President Erdoğan was conferred with the Order of the State of Tunisia by President Essebsi.
President Erdoğan and his Tunisian counterpart held a joint press conference after they held their bilateral meeting and co-chaired the meeting between delegations.
Within the margins of the visit, agreements on cooperation in various fields were signed.
President Erdoğan received Tunisian Parliament Speaker Mohamed Al-Nasr and Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed.
At the end of his visit to Tunisia, President Erdoğan also visited Martyrs’ Memorial, which was built in memory of the Tunisian citizens martyred during the Arab Spring in 2011, and laid a wreath at the Memorial.
