Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is paying an official visit to Iraq upon the invitation of Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari of Iraq on 21 January 2018.

Minister Çavuşoğlu and his Iraqi counterpart Al-Jaafari discussed the issues on the agenda of Turkish-Iraqi relations and regional developments.

Following the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu, who was received by Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi of Iraq, reiterated Turkey’s support towards territorial integrity of Iraq was reiterated. During the meeting, Turkey-Iraq relations were discussed, and the common determination to further develop bilateral trade was emphasized.

Within the margins of the visit, Minister Çavuşoğlu came together with the members of the Turkmen Coordination Council, and stated that Turkey will always side with Turkmens in Iraq and continue supporting them.

During the visit, Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with Speaker of the Council of Representatives Saleem Al-Jubouri.
