President Erdoğan paid a visit to Kazakhstan between 8-10 September 2017 for an official bilateral visit and to attend Science and Technology Summit of OIC. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu accompanied President Erdoğan during his visit.

On 8 September 2017 Minister Çavuşoğlu evaluated bilateral and regional issues with Foreign Minister Abdrakhmanov of Kazakhstan before the arrival of President Erdoğan.

President Erdoğan arrived in Astana in the evening of the same day and was welcomed with an official ceremony by President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana on 9 September 2017.

Two Presidents discussed bilateral cooperation and regional issues. Delegations of the two countries continued the deliberations on issues on the common agenda.

President Erdoğan held bilateral talks with his counterparts from Pakistan and Iran.

President Erdoğan also visited Hazrat Sultan Mosque and EXPO 2017 Astana and Turkey's stand.

President Erdoğan underlined Islamic world’s current problems and ways for solving them at OIC Science and Technology Summit held on 10 September 2017 in Astana.

Situation of Rohingya Muslims was discussed at a special session held upon Turkey's initiatives. President Erdoğan met with President Gani of Afghanistan, Member of Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidential Council, Izetbegovic, President Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, President Maduro of Venezuela, President Hamid of Bangladesh and Prime Minister Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau the same day.
