No: 107, 14 April 2013, Press Release Regarding the Terrorist Attacks Perpetrated in Mogadishu

We condemn in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attacks perpetrated in various locations in Mogadishu on 14 April 2013 and deeply regret that a great number of Somalis lost their lives or were wounded in these attacks.

During the attacks, a bomb which had been placed alongside the road at the city center was detonated while a vehicle carrying personnel of Turkish Red Crescent was passing by. The Somali driver lost his life and three personnel of the Turkish Red Crescent were wounded. Initial treatment of the wounded was provided by Turkish doctors in Mogadishu. Wounded personnel will be transported to Turkey by an air ambulance on 15 April 2013.

We convey our condolences to the relatives of the Somalis who lost their lives in the attacks and to the community of the Turkish Red Crescent and wish a speedy recovery to our nationals who were wounded.

Turkey will continue to stand by the brotherly people of Somalia.
