No: 212, 27 July 2013, Press Release Regarding the Attack on the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu

On 27 July 2013, as a result of the suicide car bomb attack against one of the main buildings of our Embassy in Mogadishu, our police officer member of the Turkish Police Special Operation Team protecting the building unfortunately lost his life despite all medical efforts and three other police officers, one being in critical condition, were wounded. Turkish doctors in Mogadishu administered emergency treatment to the wounded police officers. The wounded will be brought to Turkey by air ambulance.

Turkey condemns in the strongest terms this treacherous attack which targeted the staff of its Embassy.

We express our condolences to the bereaved family, relatives and colleagues of our martyred police officer and wish a speedy recovery to our wounded.

We expect that the perpetrators of this heinous attack on our Embassy in Mogadishu be caught and brought to justice speedily.

Our country will continue to stand by the brotherly people of Somalia and to assist them.
