We closely follow the political developments in friendly and brotherly Bangladesh with which we have deep-rooted and solid relations based on mutual respect.
We are deeply concerned with the possibility of the execution of the death sentence given to Abdul Quader Molla, one of the leaders of the Jamaat-e-Islami. We are worried that the execution of this sentence may escalate tensions in Bangladesh. Turkey believes that wounds of the past cannot be healed and social consensus cannot be reached this way.
We genuinely wish that all parties in Bangladesh act with common sense, steps for the elimination of tensions and assuring social consensus are taken so that difficult times are overcome.
As always, Turkey will, in every way, continue to stand by friendly and brotherly Bangladesh.
