Following his successful visit to Hungary, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Croatia on 25-26 February 2021.
In Zagreb, Minister Çavuşoğlu first met with the President of Islamic Community in Croatia, Mufti Aziz Effendi Hasanovic, and conveyed him the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish Nation.
During the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu also emphasized that we would not forget the support we had received after the 15 July coup attempt and that we would always stand by them.
On the second day of his program in Croatia, Minister Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to the earthquake-affected area with Deputy Prime Minister Tomo Medved and Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlic Radman of Croatia, and received information from the Mayor Darinko Dumbovic of Petrinja.
Minister Çavuşoğlu also conducted inspections at the container city, which had been constructed by the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and later delivered to the earthquake-affected families.
On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu had a fruitful meeting with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlic Radman as well and following the meeting, a joint press conference was held.
Minister Çavuşoğlu noted that our relations with Croatia contributed to the stability and prosperity of South East Europe, and that we would further our bilateral relations in all fields.
Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by President Zoran Milanovic of Croatia and conveyed him the greetings and best wishes of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that views were exchanged on current regional issues and that we offered once again our condolences due to the earthquake.
Then, Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic of Croatia and conveyed him the best wishes of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we appreciated the support given to the Turkish companies, that we were ready to support the reconstruction of eartquake affected areas, and that Croatia’s constructive role was important for our relations with the European Union.
Finally, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Gordan Jandrokovic of the Croatian Parliament and conveyed him the best wishes of Speaker Mustafa Şentop of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT).
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Jandrokovic would invite the Speaker of the GNAT after the pandemic, that we were confident in the power of parliamentary diplomacy, and that we would increase the relations between our Parliaments.
