Accession Partnership Document for Turkey of the EU Commission No:231 - November 25, 2000

The European Commission has made public the Accession Partnership Document for Turkey on 8 November 8 2000, which was discussed at the General Affairs Council of the EU on November 20th, but, no decision was taken. It is expected that the document will be discussed again in the General Affairs Council meeting on December 4th, 2000.

It is deemed useful to bring our views on the subject, once again to the attention of the EU member states at high level before the General Affairs Council to be held on December 4th. In the context of the Foreign Minister İsmail Cem's consultations with member states, especially with the French Presidency, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faruk Loğoğlu and the Deputy Undersecretary for EU Affairs, Ambassador Akın Alptuna will visit the EU member states next week (November 27 - December 1) and hold high level contacts.
