Foreign Minister Davutoglu meets with Mr. Villy Sovndal, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark

Mr. Villy Sovndal, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark paid a visit to Turkey upon the invitation of Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey on October 8, 2013.

At the joint press conference held after the meeting, noting that recently he has met with his counterpart on a number of occasions such as NATO and EU meetings as well as the UN meeting, Foreign Minister Mr. Davutoğlu stated that regular talks have been held between Turkey and Denmark.

Pointing out the rapid development of relations between Turkey and Denmark in recent years Foreign Minister Mr. Davutoglu underlined that they exchanged views on maintaining the positive momentum in economic relations and possible steps to be taken to increase the trade volume reaching 2 billion dollars.

Foreign Minister Davutoglu also mentioned that Turkey and Denmark’s efforts in cooperation against terrorism with common concerns against terrorism have reached to a significant level.

Referring that Turkey has always been in consultation with Denmark in respect of mutual democratic values Foreign Minister Mr. Davutoğlu noted that they have exchanged views on Turkey’s democratization process, recently announced democratization package, economic crisis in the EU and neighboring regions.

Expressing his expectations on Denmark’s positive contributions to solve the stalemate in Turkey-EU relations in the recent period Foreign Minister Mr. Davutoglu said that “We hope that Turkey’s determination on the issues of opening the chapters and abolition of visas would have a response in the EU and Turkey-EU relations would regain its momentum.”
