Foreign Minister Davutoğlu meets with the Secretary of State of USA, John Kerry

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, who is in New York on the occasion of the 68th United Nations General Assembly, begins his official program with a bilateral meeting with the Secretary of State of the USA, John Kerry.

At the meeting which was over an hour long, recent developments in the Middle East with an emphasis on Syria were discussed.

During the meeting, which was a follow up to the P3+1 meeting held in Paris on Syria, Foreign Ministers of the two countries exchanged views on the destruction of the chemical weapons possessed by the regime, the strategy concerning the settlement of the conflict in Syria and the steps that could be taken with a view to improving the humanitarian situation. Secretary of State, John Kerry gave information regarding the work on the draft resolution on Syria which is to be submitted to the UN Security Council and emphasized the importance of coordination on this issue in the coming period.
