Turkey and the European Union held Counter-Terrorism Consultations in Ankara on 28 November 2017. This meeting was organized as part of a regular dialogue process between Turkey and the EU.
Having underlined the fact that terrorism continues to pose a direct threat to our citizens and democracies, Turkey and the EU emphasized the importance of the need to step up the existing cooperation to counter the ever evolving threat of terrorism in an effective manner.
During these consultations, Turkey and the EU reiterated their strong will to enhance bilateral cooperation to combat terrorism that affects both Turkey, the EU and its Member States.
Both sides agreed to explore ways of enhancing collaboration on information sharing, law enforcement and judicial cooperation, and countering financing of terrorism, among other subjects.
Turkey and the EU will continue to work together to contribute to counter terrorism efforts in international fora, such as the United Nations, Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) and the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL/DAESH.
