We have learned with sorrow that, according to initial reports, approximately 100 people lost their lives and almost 300 people were wounded, as a result of the suicide attack perpetrated this morning against the Central Security Forces training for the National Day parade in Sana, the capital of Yemen.

We strongly condemn this heinous terrorist act, wish mercy upon those who lost their lives in the attack, convey our condolences to their bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to those wounded.

This terrorist attack perpetrated right before the Yemen National Day to be celebrated on 22 May and the Meeting of the Friends of Yemen Group to be held on 23 May 2012 in Riyadh, has obviously targeted the political transition process in Yemen, as well as the stability and social peace of the country.

We are confident that all parties in Yemen will act in unity, solidarity and reconciliation and will not allow such actions to disturb the social peace and abort the democratic transition process.

Turkey, throughout this process, will continue to stand by the friendly and brotherly people of Yemen.
