H.E. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, met today (18 October) with Mr. Mohammed Ismail Darwish, Chairman of the Hamas Shura Council, and members of the Hamas Political Bureau.

During the meeting, the humanitarian situation in the region, especially in northern Gaza, was discussed. Minister Fidan underlined that Türkiye will use all diplomatic means to mobilize the international community against the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

On the agenda of the meeting was the latest situation in the negotiations for a ceasefire agreement that would allow for the exchange of hostages and prisoners.

The inter-Palestinian reconciliation process was also discussed during the meeting. Minister Fidan expressed his appreciation for the recent meeting hosted by Egypt in Cairo.

On the occasion of the meeting, Minister Fidan expressed his condolences to Hamas officials on the martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar.
