Omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs pays an official visit to Turkey

Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah is paying an official visit to Turkey upon the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu.

During their meeting, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu and the Quest Minister discussed the developing cooperation between the two countries, including in particular the bilateral political and economic relations and exchanged views on the recent regional developments.

Speaking at the joint press conference following the meeting, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu emphasized that the relations between Turkey and Oman date back to the 16th century and any problem has been experienced since then.

Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said that the bilateral relations have been rapidly developing in recent years and that the two countries aim to increase the bilateral trade volume of 500 million dollars up to 1 billion dollars. Foreign Minister Davutoğlu maintained that the two countries have the political will to develop their relations in the field of defense industry and culture and to further promote mutual relations politically and economically.

Stressing that Turkey attaches a special importance to the Gulf Region, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said “In this vein, Oman has always supported Turkey’s efforts to develop its relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council. Turkey and Oman share similar approaches concerning the stability of the region, use of peaceful methods and promotion of mediation efforts.”
