President Erdoğan paid an official visit to Uzbekistan on 17-18 November 2016. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also accompanied President Erdoğan during the visit. In the meetings, bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments were discussed.

Speaking to the press with Acting President and Prime Minister Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan before the meetings, President Erdoğan underlined that they want to carry forward Turkey-Uzbekistan relationship to its rightful level of eternal brotherhood and that the two countries must work to improve bilateral relations in all areas in the new period. President Erdoğan also stated that Uzbekistan is a factor of stability in the region due to its deep-rooted state tradition, historical heritage and strategic location.
