were established in 1838.
2023 marked the 185th anniversary of our relations with our NATO Ally
Belgium. In 2024, the 60th anniversary of the Türkiye-Belgium Labor
Agreement is being celebrated.
The then Crown Prince, King Philippe of Belgium, visited Türkiye on October
15-19, 2012.
Upon the invitation of King Philippe of Belgium, President Erdoğan visited
Belgium on 4-6 October 2015; it constituted the first state visit since the
establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Belgium’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and
Federal Cultural Institutions Hadja Lahbib paid a working visit to Türkiye
on 14-16 December 2022.
Approximately 250,000 of Turkish citizens live in Belgium, 210,000 of whom
have dual citizenship.
