Due to geographical distance, the relations between the two countries
remained limited in the past. However, bilateral relations and cooperation
within international organizations began to develop further, following
Türkiye's outreach policy towards the Latin America and Caribbean region.
The Turkish Embassy in Havana is accredited to Jamaica. Türkiye has an
Honorary Consulate in Kingston and Jamaica has one in Istanbul.
H.E. Arnold Nicholson, the then Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign
Trade of Jamaica, participated in the First Ministerial Meeting of the
Consultation and Cooperation Mechanism between Türkiye-CARICOM held in
Istanbul on 17-21 July 2014.
Türkiye’s main export items to Jamaica are plastic products, cables and
dried fruits. Türkiye’s imports consist of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic
beverages and volatile oils.
