Türkiye is the first country which recognized Kazakhstan. Common historical
and cultural ties between Türkiye and Kazakhstan are the basis of our
rapidly developing relations. In the wake of Kazakhstan’s independence, the
basis of our relations and cooperation in various areas has been
institutionalized through many agreements and protocols signed with this
country. Kazakhstan has become one of the most significant political and
economic partners of Türkiye in the region.
The Strategic Partnership Agreement, signed during the visit of President
Nursultan Nazarbayev to Türkiye on October 2009, brought a new dimension to
our relations.
The High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) was established during
the visit of then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, , to Kazakhstan on
May 2012. (Our strategic relations with Kazakhstan have gained an
institutional framework with the mechanism of HLSCC.) The first meeting of
the HLSCC was held on 11-12 October 2012 during the visit of President
Nursultan Nazarbayev to Türkiye. The second meeting of the HLSC was held
during the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Kazakhstan on 15-17
April 2015.
Our bilateral trade volume reached almost 3,9 billion Dollars in 2019. Our
common target is to increase our bilateral trade volume to the level of 10
billion Dollars.
In Kazakhstan, Turkish entrepreneurs are quite active particularly food,
medication-chemistry industry, construction, hotel management and
manufacturing sectors. Turkish construction companies in Kazakhstan have
completed projects worth 23,5 billion Dollars by 2019.
Regional and international cooperation between Türkiye and Kazakhstan also
grows rapidly. The Summit of Turkic Speaking States has been
institutionalized as a tangible result of the cooperation between Türkiye
and Kazakhstan in order to ensure peace and stability in Eurasia, and in
this context, Kazakhstan has played a significant role in the establishment
of the Turkic Council and the TURKPA. Kazakhstan also hosts the
International Turkic Academy established within the Turkic Council.
Cooperation on education and culture constitutes another significant
dimension of the relations between two countries. About 8.000 students
study in the campuses, established in four cities, of International Hodja
Ahmet Yesevi Turkish- Kazakh University
