Türkiye is the first country which recognized the independence of
Kyrgyzstan. Diplomatic relations between two countries were established on
29 January 1992. The Embassies were reciprocally opened in Bishkek and
Ankara in 1992.
The relations between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan are at the level of strategic
partnership in every field. Multidimensional relations between two
countries in political, economic/commercial, military,
cultural/educational, health, transportation areas are carried out within
the framework of a broad legal basis consisting of more than two hundred
agreements and protocols.
The main documents of our strategic partnership today are the “Agreement on
Eternal Friendship and Cooperation” signed by the Presidents in 1997,
Declaration on the “Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan: Together Towards the 21st
Century” issued in 1997, and Joint Statement on Establishment of the High
Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) signed in 2012.
President Jeenbekov paid an official visit to Türkiye in 9-11 April 2018 and
in 9 July 2018 to participate in the inauguration ceremony of President
Erdoğan. President Erdoğan paid an official visit to Kyrgyzstan to co-chair
High Level Strategic Cooperation Council Meeting and participate Turkic
Council Summit in 2018.
President Erdogan had a bilateral meeting with President Jeenbekov in Baku
on the 15th of October 2019 on the margins of Turkic Council Summit.
Türkiye attaches importance to Kyrgyzstan, maintaining stability and
development in Kyrgyzstan. In this context, we support Kyrgyzstan at every
level from the beginning of political and institutional transformation
process.
