Relations between Türkiye and Peru

Türkiye maintains good relations with Peru in all areas. Diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Peru were established in 1950. The Embassy of Türkiye in Santiago, Chile was accredited to Peru between 1950 and 2010.

The Embassy of Türkiye in Lima and the Embassy of Peru in Ankara respectively opened in 2010. Peru also has an Honorary Consulate in Istanbul.

H.E Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye paid an official visit to Peru on 2-3 February 2016. This was the first presidential visit from Türkiye to Peru and was a milestone in furthering bilateral relations.

Political Consultations Mechanism exists between Türkiye and Peru, and the last meeting was held in Lima at the level of Deputy Foreign Minister on 27 April 2019.

The trade volume between the two countries was approximately 250 million USD (Türkiye’s exports: 177,4 million USD, Türkiye’s imports: 72,6 million USD) by the end of 2019.
