Relations between Türkiye and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas have been
limited due to geographical distance and different foreign policy
priorities of both countries. The outreach policy of Türkiye towards Latin
America and the Caribbean region has gained momentum in recent years and
increasing attention has been paid to the region. Opening of new Embassies
in the region, development and technical cooperation projects carried out
by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and increased
institutional relations with regional organizations have contributed to the
development of our bilateral relations with the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
as well.
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Frederick Mitchell, attended
the Türkiye-CARICOM Consultation and Cooperation Mechanism Foreign
Ministers Meeting held in Istanbul in July 17-21, 2014, and had a meeting
with the former Foreign Minister H.E. Ahmet Davutoğlu.
The Embassy of Türkiye in Havana is accredited to the Commonwealth of the
Bahamas.
