The President of the Czech Republic His Excellency Vaclav Havel will pay an official visit to Turkey on October 10-12, 2000, upon the invitation of the President of the Republic of Turkey, H. E. Ahmet Necdet Sezer.

The President of the Czech Republic H. E. Vaclac Havel will be accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, H. E. Jan Fencl and a high level delegation.

The visiting President will have a meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey, H. E. Ahmet Necdet Sezer and receive the Turkish Prime Minister, H. E. Bülent Ecevit.

In the talks between the delegations to be headed by the two Presidents, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues are expected to be taken up. Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters, Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Quarantine and Plant Protection and Agreement on Cooperation in Veterinary Field are also scheduled to be signed between Turkey and the Czech Republic.

The visiting President will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree at Bilkent University.

H. E. President Havel and the accompanying delegation will following their stay in Ankara also be visiting İzmir and İstanbul.
