Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Paolo Gentiloni paid an official visit to Turkey on 21-23 February 2016.

After meetings with Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu, Foreign Minister Gentiloni was received by President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Davutoğlu. In the meetings, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues were discussed.

The two Foreign Ministers held a joint press conference where they both underlined the goal of further strengthening bilateral relations. At the press conference, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also expressed thanks for Italy’s support to Turkey’s EU membership process. Foreign Minister Gentiloni confirmed that Italy will continue to support Turkey’s EU membership process.
