Within the framework of the protocol signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan on March 4, 2013 “Support Project in the Field of Information Technologies for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan” was launched with a ceremony held in the Afghanistan Embassy in Ankara with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Ahmad Osmani, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Ambassador Naci Koru, Undersecretary of National Security of Afghanistan, Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Turkish Ambassador to Afghanistan, İsmail Aramaz and Afghan Ambassador to Turkey, Amanullah Jayhoon on February 12, 2014
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Afghan Foreign Minister Osmani said that Turkey makes great contribution to the development of Afghanistan through the said project and other similar projects and added “Afghan people always feel honoured with the friendship of Turkey”.
Stressing that Afghanistan always has a special place for Turkey, Deputy Minister Koru pointed out that the communication of Afghan Foreign Ministry and its diplomatic missions has reached a certain security level with the new system evolved with the support of Turkey.
Turkey and Afghanistan enjoy friendship ties based on history and strengthened by sincere relations between the people of the two countries. Within this framework, “Support Project in the field of Information Technologies for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan” came up as a concrete element in the cooperation between the two countries. With the completion of the Project, today:
- Data centers for Afghan Foreign Ministry have been installed in Ankara and Kabul which work as backups to each other,
- Afghan diplomatic missions have had a uniform and centrally-managed web page infrastructure,
- Necessary infrastructure has been established for document preparation, sending and archiving between the departments of Afghan Foreign Ministry and the diplomatic missions,
- Personnel of Afghan Foreign Ministry have been enabled to communicate with each other in a secure manner through their “mfa.gov.af” e-mails as well as through instant messaging system in written and in audio-visual.
- Moreover, Afghan technical personnel have been provided with training in Ankara for the management of the system.
