QA:30 - 24 July 2007, Statement of the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in Response to a Question (Unofficial Translation)

We have learned that the deputy spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France with respect to a question asked about the recent general elections in Turkey has stated that the continuation of the political, economic and social reforms within the framework of EU is important for the “privileged partnership” that they were trying to establish with Turkey during a press conference on July 23, 2007.

The goal of Turkey’s EU process is full membership. This aim has been determined by the common decisions of the European Council taken during the 1999 Helsinki, 2002 Copenhagen and 2004 Brussels Summits. Turkey’s EU process is progressing according to this objective.
