Turkey has recognized the Republic of Montenegro on 12 June 2006 and the diplomatic relations between Turkey and Montenegro has been established as of 3 July 2006.

In the course of opening a Diplomatic Mission in Podgorica, Turkish Ambassador in Belgrade is accredited to Montenegro.

In this context, H.E. Mr. Hasan Servet Öktem, Turkish Ambassador in Belgrade presented his credentials to the President of Montenegro, H.E. Filip Vujanoviç on 14 February 2007.
