Following negotiations, Turkey and the Arab League agreed on a document entitled “Framework Agreement for the Turkish-Arab Cooperation Forum.”
Recently, significant progress has been recorded in all aspects of relations between Turkey and the Arab countries. It is hoped that the Turkish-Arab Cooperation Forum will bring a new momentum and provide an opportunity for all aspects of the relations to be taken forward.
In the aforementioned document, cooperation between Turkey and the Arab League in the political field and on issues related to security, as well as in economic and cultural fields and in social development is envisaged. The document also foresees collaboration towards the goal of promoting the Alliance of Civilisations Initiative and, in this regard, the necessary consultation and cooperation mechanisms are being established.
The Framework Agreement will be signed between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Ali Babacan and Arab League Secretary-General Amre Moussa.
The signing ceremony will be held on 2 November 2007 at 19:30 hours, at the margins of the Expanded Neighboring Countries of Iraq Ministerial Meeting, at Çırağan Palace, Yıldız Hall.
