PRESS RELEASE (Unofficial Translation)
The Second Session of the Sixth Round of the Six-Party Talks, with the participation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was held in Beijing, from 27 to 30 September 2007, with a view to achieving the goal of the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.
Turkey welcomes the “Agreement on the Second-Phase Actions for the Implementation of the September 2005 Joint Statement”, announced after the Six-Party Talks in Beijing, on 4 October 2007, which signifies an important progress reached during the negotiations held since 2003. We look forward to the early implementation of this Agreement, which hopefully will lead to an era of verifiable denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.
Turkey remains fully supportive of the Six Party Talks and wishes that this progress gives further impetus to the process towards achieving lasting peace, security and stability in the region, as well as, that the Parties continue to pursue a constructive and reconciliatory stance.
