The 115th meeting of the Turkey-EC Association Committee will be held in Brussels on 22 March, 2007. Issues concerning Turkey’s process of accession to the EU and Turkey-EC Customs Union will be discussed at the said meeting.
Under the coordination of the Foreign Ministry, a delegation comprising officials from the relevant institutions and bodies will attend the meeting.
The Association Committee meeting is a significant platform where progress made within the framework of the accession negations that opened on October 3, 2005, as well as and the accession process are reviewed. The meeting will also be important in terms of further developing the financial cooperation and to exchange views on means of addressing the existing problems in the context of the Customs Union.
The Association Committee also serves as a preparatory body for the Association Council, which is the highest decision-making mechanism in the Turkey-EU association relationship and is essential in providing the groundwork for the setting up of its agenda.
