The Second Meeting at Deputy Level of the Intergovernmental Conference on Turkey’s Accession to the EU will be held on 29 March 2007 in Brussels. A delegation headed by Minister of State and Chief Negotiator Mr. Ali Babacan will represent Turkey at the meeting.

At the meeting, negotiations on the chapter “Enterprise and Industrial Policy” will be opened and issues concerning Turkey’s accession process will be discussed. Our expectations related to taking forward the accession process on the basis of existing commitments will be conveyed to the EU side.

Turkey will continue to fulfill in their entirety its obligations with regard to alignment with the EU acquis in the context of the accession process. In this respect, a fair approach, free from political considerations and focused on the technical nature of the accession process, is expected from the EU side.
