The Fifth Summit of Turkish Speaking Countries will take place in Baku on April 8-9, 2000.
To further improve the already excellent bilateral relations and to launch the process of multilateral cooperation among their countries, the Heads of State of the Turkish Speaking countries held their first Summit Meeting in Ankara in 1992, which was followed by the Istanbul Summit in 1994, the Bishek Summit in 1995, the Tashkent Summit in 1996 and the Astana Summit in 1998.
President H.E. Süleyman Demirel, President of Turkmenistan H.E. Saparmurad Türkmenbası, President of Uzbekistan H.E. Islam Kerimov, President of Kazakhstan H.E.Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of Kyrgyzstan H.E.Askar Akayev will attend the upcoming Summit to be hosted by the President of Azerbaijan H.E. Haydar Aliyev.
Turkey firmly believes that the Baku Summit will contribute to the process of Turkish Speaking States’ Summit which is now being institutionalized.
