The Prime Minister of Turkey, H.E. Bülent Ecevit is going to pay an official visit to India during March 30 to April 2, upon the invitation of the Prime Minister of India, H.E. Atal Bihari Vajpayee. H.E. Bülent Ecevit will be accompanied by Ministers of State, H.E. Safter Gaydalı and Prof. Dr. H.E.Abdulhaluk Çay, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. İsmail Cem, the Minister of Culture, H.E. İstemihan Talay and members of parliament. Also some businessmen and members of press will participate in the Prime Minister's visit.
During the visit of the Prime Minister views on bilateral relations and regional as well as international matters of common interest will be exchanged. The meeting of the Turkish-Indian Business Council will also take place during this visit in New Delhi.
On this occasion, an honorary doctorate degree will be awarded to H.E. Bülent Ecevit for his interest in Tagore translations and Indian culture by the Visva-Bharati University, located in the city of Santinekan, province of West Bengal which was established in 1901 by the famous Indian poet and thinker Rabindranath Tagore.
