Turkey has always adhered to the “One China” policy. Relations between the People’s Republic of China and Turkey at governmental level have been constantly improving. In this framework, Turkey has no political relations with Taiwan, only economic, cultural and commercial contacts.

The Turkish Government views the political elections held on March 18,2000 in Taiwan within this perspective.

Turkey genuinly desires that peace and friendship prevail in Taiwan and that the results of the recent elections contribute to the reunification of China by way of peacuful negotiations.
