The President of the Czech Republic His Excellency Vaclav Havel will pay an official visit to Turkey on March 22-25, 2000, upon the invitation of the President of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Süleyman Demirel. The said visit which was envisaged for September 1999 had to be postponed due to the İzmit Earthquake Disaster in August, 1999.
The President of the Czech Republic H.E. Vaclac Havel will be accompanied by The Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Jan Fencl and a high level delegaiton.
The visiting President will have a meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Süleyman Demirel and the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly H.E Yıldırım Akbulut and receive the Turkish Prime Minister, H.E. Bülent Ecevit.
In the talks between the delegations to be headed by the two Presidents, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues are expected to be taken up. Three Agreements on Agricultural Cooperation are also scheduled to be signed between Turkey and the Czech Republic.
The visiting President will be awarded an Honarary Doctorate Degree at Bilkent University.
H.E. President Havel and the accompanying delegation will, following their stay in Ankara, also be visiting İzmir and İstanbul.
